Barberry Root

Barberry root is the root of a shrub with spiny, grey branches and bright yellow inner bark, which contains the alkaloid berberine. It is used in traditional medicine and can be made into tea or tinctures. While the berries are used in cooking and for jam, the root and its bark are the parts most commonly used for medicinal purposes
